Paraffin at 13: Growing Up with Generation Alpha
A Message from Paraffin Managing Director, Pam Hamilton
When we chose Generation Alpha as the theme for our 13th birthday celebration, one thing became clear: we didn’t know enough about them.
And yet, this will be the generation that will shape everything.
One client said to me, “Oh yeah, there’s always a new generation.”
And I found myself replying, “No. This generation is different.”
They will grow up with unprecedented access to knowledge, technology, and entrepreneurial tools. They will have agency, information, and innovation at their fingertips. And for those of us shaping the brands, ideas, and organisations that will meet them — it’s time to really listen.
Paraffin’s Next Chapter: Learning, Evolving, Growing
So what does this mean for Paraffin?
We’re proud to serve every generation in our work — Gen Alpha, Gen Z, Millennials, and the growing ageing population. Each brings a new perspective that’s reshaping not only innovation and insight, but also how capabilities are built and how people learn.
This moment isn’t our “coming of age” story — it’s the beginning of our adolescence.
Like Gen Alpha, we’re still learning, evolving, changing, creating, and growing.
Five years ago, we won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise. But we haven’t stopped evolving since. I recently heard Paloma Faith say in a graduation speech that what matters isn’t how you do something, but the message you’re trying to get across.
That resonated deeply. Because whether we’re doing Innovation, Insights, or Capability work, our message has always been the same: good people, doing excellent creative work, in the spirit of respect, partnership, and positive impact.
A Creative Community That Grows Together
Today we celebrate the Paraffin community — our brilliant, creative team and the clients who make our work possible.
It’s an organic, evolving network of people who support each other to deliver great work: curious challenges, creative approaches, and a shared belief in doing work that does good.
Recently, architect Thomas Heatherwick spoke about his fight against what he calls the “blandemic” — the rise of boring, cookie-cutter buildings.
That struck a chord, because Paraffin has been fighting the blandemic in business for years. We strive to make our work memorable, meaningful, and motivating, never formulaic or dull.
For us, “good work” has many meanings — creative excellence, improving everyday lives, uplifting each other, and creating a positive impact on the world, like our partnership with PEAS.
Looking Ahead: Paraffin’s “Teen Era”
We’re entering an exciting new chapter — one filled with bold plans and continued growth.
From Paraffin Asia, to our global Sparks panel of influencers, experts, innovators and provocateurs, to expanding our public sector partnerships, we’re looking outward and forward. We continue to build our use of AI beyond tasks and productivity to amplify our creative content for innovation and capability work and we are seeing excellent results.
And our collaboration with PEAS will go deeper — not just financial support, but hands-on partnership in leadership and capability-building.
We’ll have already booked a number of free working sessions with our clients to explore what Gen Alpha means for their brands and teams — and how to prepare for the world they’re building.
Always Learning, Always Curious
Being close to Gen Alpha means staying close to the future — anticipating shifts in culture, embracing new tools and technologies, and staying curious about the world around us.
As Paraffin enters its “teen” years, we’re embracing that energy. We plan to be:
- Obsessed with learning and creativity
- Obsessed with connection and culture
- Obsessed with using technology to amplify our expertise and our humanity
We’re proud to keep growing with our clients and partners — a creative community that learns, evolves, and makes a positive impact together.
Here’s to the next era of Paraffin — and to growing up alongside the generation that’s shaping the future.
